EveryShot ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

The short version: We collect only what's necessary to make the app work. We don't sell your data. We don't show you ads. Your golf data is yours.

Information We Collect

Device Information

When you first open EveryShot, we create a unique device identifier to link your data to your device. This allows you to use the app without creating an account. We collect:

• Device type and operating system version
• App version
• A randomly generated device identifier
• Push notification token (if notifications enabled)

Account Information

If you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Full name
• Profile photo (optional)
• Sign-in method (Google, Apple, or email)

Golf Data

The primary data we collect is your golf round information:

• Scores and shot details for each hole
• Courses you play
• Round dates and times
• Statistics derived from your rounds

Location Data

If you use the Course Map feature, we access your device's GPS location to show your position on the hole. This data is:

• Used only while the Course Map is open
• Not stored on our servers
• Not shared with third parties
• Can be disabled by denying location permissions

Video & Media

If you record shot videos:

• Video files uploaded to secure cloud storage
• Video metadata (duration, file size, timestamp)
• Association with specific shots in your rounds

Optional Information

If you choose to set a display name or profile photo, this information is stored and may be visible to other players in shared rounds.

Course Tips

You can contribute course tips visible to other players. We collect the tip content you write, your skill rating at time of submission, and tips are moderated for appropriate content.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide the core app functionality (tracking rounds, calculating stats)
• Sync your data across sessions and after app updates
• Enable shared rounds with other players
• Improve the app based on aggregate usage patterns
• Respond to support requests

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data only in these limited circumstances:

• Multiplayer rounds: When you join a shared round, other participants can see your display name and scores for that round.
• Service providers: We use third-party services for hosting and analytics. These providers only access data necessary to perform their services.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS) and implement reasonable security measures to protect stored data.

Round data is also stored locally on your device for offline access. If you delete the app, local data is removed, but server-synced data remains associated with your device identifier.

Data Retention

We retain your round data indefinitely so you can access your complete golf history. If you want your data deleted, contact us at everyshotapp@gmail.com and we will delete all data associated with your device identifier.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Plausible Analytics: Privacy-focused website analytics (no cookies, no personal data collected)
• OpenAI: Content moderation for course tips and AI-powered scorecard scanning. Text and images are processed by OpenAI's API but not used to train their models.
• Apple Maps: Satellite imagery and map tiles for the Course Map feature
• GolfCourseAPI: Course database for hole information and yardages
• DigitalOcean: Cloud storage for video files

Children's Privacy

EveryShot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect and how it's used
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of the "sale" of personal information (we do not sell your data)
• Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
